OK

I heard you speaking with a double tongue
To put emphasis on your meanings
So I lingered to see what would happen
I love me some free entertainment

But then you offered me a cigarette
And you said “Hi, who are you?”
Taken aback, my reaction came lightning quick
I put a mask on, and answered and mirrored

You told me you lost your husband at a young age,
how difficult it was to function,
How it made you confused with the world
Then you told me it was needed to form you

Lightning gone, I responded, how I can’t yet to
Leave my pain behind, to grow from it.
How i find it impossible to leave it in the past
I thanked you for the next sigaret, I am polite

You said something which I couldn’t understand
As your friend put your next beer on the table
But I explain some more and you respond
Your friend leaves us, he knows what’s up

You tell me everything I have been feeling
Alone and locked up in the practicalities
The politeness, the fixed rules, the normal
You give slurred words to what I am going through

Everything I am feeling
And you add
That it’ll be ok
Not easier
just Ok

And with that, you were what
I didn’t know I needed now
