Lemons

Lemons are refreshingly sour sweet
Bright yellow balls of sunshine
To spice up every drink
But when life gives you them
What are they really?

You squeeze the life out of them
To make a cheaply drink
Sell their hearts for a buck
Passerby always thirsty
With a coin in their hand

These fruits have grown through stages
Green and small to elevation
One sided taste to complexity
The grabbable journey
Naturally obvious

Do you ever stop to think about
This Indian seed rooted in history
Providing, amongst others;
A flavor of Tea, cold or warm. invisible ink, bleached hair, it’s zest for cooking, including pies,
The name for a color, an anagram for melon, an income for farmers, a funny face on babies.

With anything that life gives you, consider it’s full potential
Especially lemons
