Balcony

My feet touch the cold of the stone on the balcony
The air is still after the winds went to sleep early
My thoughts are distracted by the silence of the night
I am alone and safe underneath the darkness of the moon

The clock keeps ticking like a child seeking attention
I fight it by doing nothing to keep momentum going
Enough alcohol in my system to be untouchable a bit
Enough water drank to be prepared for tomorrow

The moon will say it’s goodbye while I crash to sleep
And the sun will say it’s colorful hello through the window
The new day will have to dawn, because I cannot stop it
The cold tells me I held on to the strings of tonight enough

Before I got home, you told me what I already knew
That all we ever were had to end, before the new noon
‘Agreed’ I ended, and you left my life after the bill
Tomorrow is a new day, I’ll have to agree to it still
