Lessons

Jesus I believe, and I’ve lived by your rules.
The rules you’ve shown to be the truth, to life by.
To forgive and to show the other cheek freely
Acknowledge, Love all lower and controversially equal

I’ve done everything you asked for without rebuttal.
I mean, I’ve read what is necessary, needed and I studied
Followed the lessons you taught throughout ages and now
And I’ve said to others what to do with life, how to live it

So now, at the end of my own life, I think I should be safe
I expect that I am allowed a seat, at a table, any table
I don’t ask for wings, but some privilege as prize please
Nothing to put me above others off course, just a simple reward

But now I wonder, with your forgiveness, and limitless understanding
And all the lessons I have been taught to spread, had to profess
We surely, we cannot leave the weaker misbehaving ones behind
Even if they didn’t listen, wasn’t that your lesson, equality, acceptance?

So what have I earned with my good behavior?
